“Not only to recognize, but also to prevent the repetition of history!”

24 April 2015 was the 100th Anniversary of the extermination of Armenians by the Turks of Ottoman Empire. Unfortunately, on the eve of the centennial many countries haven’t yet recognized the fact of Genocide.

Being confident that our duty to our nation and to the whole humanity in general is the struggle against such violence, representatives of Armenian culture, the three friends Karen Margaryan, Tigran Petrosyan and Grisha Aghakhanyan, together with KMsounds Production and under the patronage of Armenian First Lady Rita Sargsyan, have initiated a musical project, in which outstanding representatives of international culture to remind once again the World about the verity of the Genocide and to call upon to stop coercion and any kind of violence in the world.

On April 19, 2015, the premiere of the “Millions of Lives” video clip took place, in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. Cinema Moscow written by poet Rita May, the music has been composed and produced by Karen Margaryan. Co-directors in this project are Mihran Stepanyan, Hayk Atomts, Oleg Movchan, Natalia Ivanova, and Oleg Taravkov.

Within the scope of the program a video with participation of world-renowned artists was screened. The project is quite wide and complex in realization, as it includes shooting and recording in many countries of the world – USA, Russian Federation, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Germany, etc. Though overcoming all faced challenges the team made and presents you the video “Millions of lives”.

In the video a grandfather and granddaughter share a heartwrenching conversation about the trials and horrors his generation and family had faced.  The song of the video is about the devastated destiny of a little girl, who lost her family and stayed alone in this World.

The grandfather is played by major Armenian benefactor Hrayr Hovnanian, whose family history is a symbolic representation of the horrendous acts against humanity committed during the beginnings of the 20th century.

In the video we can see the act of outstanding Armenian as well as international artists, who are friends of the Armenian nation and who share the sorrow of the little girl and millions of families whose dreams vanished in the desert sand. We can’t let the history be repeated. We don’t want any other nation to experience the horror the Armenians went through.

Appearances throughout the clip are made by Charles Aznavour, Jivan Gasparyan, Armen Dzigarkhanyan, Alain Terzian, Montserrat Caballe, Sebu Simonian, Patrick Fiori, Coco York, Mariam Merabova, Andrey Davidian, Arthur Abraham, Tigran Petrosyan, Vahe Berberian, among many others.

Each artist shot in the video address their message to the World: “The violence of 1915 was Genocide. It must be recognized by the whole world to prevent the repetition of the history”.

Song Lyrics:

Come and sit with me a while
Let me tell you of a time
Some refuse to recognize
Though a million lives had died
o…
So many walked the desert sands
Forced to leave the Promised Land

All because the hands of hate
Hundred years we’ve been betrayed
I used to hear my mother cry
Never had to ask her why
Trembling pain would overthrow
Once again a child alone
Left to mourn her family
Know that she will always grieve

Do you know you have her eyes?
May they never bare her cries
Though her life had been so blessed
All she felt was emptiness,
O…

Some refuse to recognize
Though a million lives had died
All because the hand of hate
Hundred years we’ve been betrayed
Generations paralyzed
Want the world to realize
Waiting for the day to heal
Still their pain they feel

This is one of many tragedies
We are cursed to repeat history
Once again a new atrocity
We’d fight for them
Until the end

Some refuse to recognize
There are millions that have died
Heaven holds the hand of fate
But tomorrow comes too late

Generations fall and rise
Want the world to recognize
We are strong in Unity
We will rise to Victory.

Do you know, I have her eyes?
